CAIRN LKA 15 Judge: Mr David Winsley (Davmar) BEST OF BREED : 6116 INETT, Miss D & ENGEBRETSEN Mrs L Carradine George Flies with Harkinleigh CAIRN JUDGE LKA 15 Cairn Terriers I was rather disappointed in the overall quality of the entry, in males there were only a small number that I consider had the quality that would encourage me to consider them as a stud dog if I were still breeding! Bitches were stronger in quality & in some cases it was small differences that decided my final placings. Many need to have better handling to get the best out of them & quite a few would have been improved by dubious tidying up of their coats. I was very pleased with the quality of my principle winners. MPD (7,1a) 1 Shopland’s Trekhill Mister Bean at Cherrycrack, gr/br, nice size for his age. Nice head developing, good stop, dark eye & ears in the right place. Good neck & shoulder, straight front, nice spring of rib & depth to body. Level back, good turn of stifle & tailset correct. Coat of good texture, could carry some more body. Moved & showed well. BP; 2 Yates & Johnson’s Nordcairn’s Quiero Mucho of Pendley, red with a decent head & expression, though I would prefer a little shorter foreface. Good overall shape, nice in bone. Body well made, nice turn of stifle with short hocks, moved well. In nice coat, showed well; 3 Goud’s Vale Of Atholl’s Earl of Mansfield. PD (0). JD (1) 1 Peers’ Performing The Dream for Tweedisle, light red with a nice well furnished head, nice dark eye with correct ear placement. Good neck & shoulders, straight front. Good spring of rib, could carry more body, a little leggy right now but should drop with maturity. Well made hindquarters, good tailset, coat of good texture, could do with tidying up. Happy boy. PGD (7,2) 1 Inett, Harrison, King & Leighton’s Carradine George Flies with Harkinleigh, gr/br up to size, he has a lovely head & expression. Good stop, dark eye, well filled foreface & correct ear placement. Good reach of neck that blends into his shoulders & level back. Straight front, enough forechest, deep body & good spring of rib. Correct tailset, nice turn of stifle & one of the few with correct feet! Coat of good texture, moved & showed well. CC, BOB, I understand this makes him up, a well deserved Ch; 2 Clarke’s Svendalens Perseveverance with Lentrica, another gr/br, judged him as an immature puppy, now nicely mature. He has a lovely head with a dark eye & keen expression. Straight front, well made body with good ribbing. Nicely made hindquarters, he also has nice feet & moves well. Coat needs more attention; 3 Parkin’s Carradine My Mate Matthew. LD (6) 1 Inett & Engebretsen’s Carradine Dexter, dark gr/br I have previously awarded a RCC too. Still an assertive boy who needs a strong handler, he has a pleasing head & expression, nice overall shape. Moves with plenty of drive & shows well. Just not the condition he previously had; 2 Hughes & Hooton’s Gyncairn Magical Mystery, wheaten whose coat is just going over. Nice head & expression, nice dark eye not always seen in a wheaten. Straight front, well made body with good depth, level back & good tailset. Very nicely made behind & naturally moved with a fluent sound gait. Shows well; 3 Bateman & Gompel’s Carradine Terries Tipple. OD (3) 1 Shannon, Storr & Kaplan’s Am GrCh Brenndarcy Borgen, red with a very pleasing head & expression. Well defined stop, nice dark eye, well placed ears. Correct shape for a Cairn with a medium length of back. Nice spring of rib, good turn of stifle, tail well placed. He has a really harsh top coat, nicely presented & moved well; 2 Waites’ Svendalens Snow Knight, silver/wh up to size for me. Lovely expressive head, good reach of neck with a level back. Straight front, nicely developed body, good turn of stifle. Sound mover, quality coat that could use some dubious tidying up, shows well; 3 Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Renshaw There And Back Again. VD (3) 1 Parkin’s RoachdeeMystery Of The Full Moon, red from a slightly smaller mould but nicely balanced. Very expressive head with a dark eye. Straight front, nicely made body & hindquarters. In a nice quality coat, moves OK & showed well; 2 Lynch’s Fieldron Call My Bluff at Linacrelads, wheaten, pleasing head & expression. Just carrying a bit too much body. In nice coat, just rather reluctant to move & cooperate with his handler; 3 Davies’ Cloverbrook Harris Tweed. GCD (2) 1 R Mystery Of The Full Moon; 2 Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Birselaw Fable, silver/br of a bigger size, nice expressive head. Well made body, showed & moved well. Coat not in the best of condition. MPB (4) 1 Parker-Tucker’s Uniquecottage Florey, pretty wheaten, nice in head & expression, with a nice dark eye & good earset. Nice straight front, well made body for a baby, correct tailset. Lovely quality coat, moves well, showmanship needs more training but that will come. BP; 2 Goud’s Vale of Atholl’s Bessie Brown, this was a dilemma, the baby of the class being just 6 months & she looked it! She has a very pleasing head & expression for one so young, pleasing outlines. Straight front, nice body with a very nice turn of stifle. Tail set on well, level back, lovely feet, coat OK for her age. Moved & showed with lots of confidence. Lovely type & should have a good future; 3 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Dreamsville. PB (2) 1 Tester’s Lindcoly Hint Of Trouble, red with a pretty head, with well placed ears. Nice Cairn shape, straight in front, body quite mature. Level back, good tailset, moves & shows steadily. Her coat need more attention to enhance her good points; 2 Saich’s Lindcoly Heinz Speciality, very similar in type to 1 in make & shape. Not in the best of coats & wouldn’t move on this floor so paid the penalty. JB (6,2) 1 De Lang’s Xilla Joy Of The Moor, very promising red girl, attractive head with a lovely expression, excellent dark eyes & well placed ears. Good length of neck, correct shoulders, level back. Straight front, very well made body & hindquarters. She is a true Cairn shape, lovely quality coat, moves & shows very well. Will have a bright future; 2 Saich’s Lindcoly Maleficent Mindy, wheaten, slightly larger than 1. Another with the correct shape & she has a quality coat. Pleasing head but could have a slightly shorter muzzle, good length of neck, good front, well made body. Moved & showed well, has plenty of time to mature & improve more; 3 L Hint Of Trouble. PGB (7,2) 1 Drew’s Miketos Marvelous Fiona at L’Artiste, red that I judged as a puppy, nice size & totally feminine throughout. She has a lovely expressive head, well defined stop, dark eyes & good ear placement. Good in neck & shoulder, straight front. Good spring of rib, nice turn of stifle, tail a little high set. Well presented coat of the correct texture, moves with drive & shows nonstop; 2 X Joy Of The Moor; 3 Tutching’s Cloverbrook Touch Of Class at Crowneast. LB (6,1) 1 Hughes & Hooton’s Gyncairn Believe In Magic, wheaten of quality, nice head with a dark eye & well placed ears. Good neck & shoulders, well made front. Very nice body, excellent hindquarters & correct tailset. Presented as one expects from this handler, sound driving action, showed well but could have used her tail a bit more. RCC; 2 Inett, Harrison & Clayton’s Carradine Connies Kirsty, silver with a very nice head, at times reluctant to use her ears. Nice shape, excels in body, with strongly made hindquarters. Tail set on well, in a well presented jacket. Moves out well & showed well; 3 Dolan’s Glenrood Scheherazade. OB (3) 1 Dolan’s Ch Glenrood Magic Spell, gr/br with a lovely expressive head, well defined stop, dark eye & good ear placement. Good in front, mature body with depth & good spring of rib. Very nice turn of stifle, nice tailset which she uses all the time. In good coat & condition, moves with a fluent driving action. Showed herself off all the time. CC; 2 Owen’s Ch Caldwall Call The Shots, wh/br with a dark mask. Nice head & expression, correct overall shape for the breed. Well made body, in good coat & condition. Moved & showed steadily; 3 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Dizzee Rascal. VB (2) 1 Felter & Rumen’s Ch Landbuck Jazz Hands, a very attractive girl who has a very nice head, typical keen expression. She has a nice front, correct body shape with a well made backend. Shown in first class coat & condition. Moved with plenty of drive; 2 Byrne’s Little Miss Tonka, have judged this girl before, still retains a pleasing typical Cairny head. In nice body condition. Not moving with such ease as 1. Shows herself well. DAVID WINSLEY |
