CAIRN JUDGE EAST OF ENGLAND 23

PD (1)

1 Inett & Harrison’s Carradine Ayre Friar. Promising 9 mth old red brindle with excellent temperament. He pleased for overall type and presented a good outline with medium length of neck, firm level back, rib developing well for age, muscular loin of acceptable length and tail good for both set and carriage. Masculine headpiece with good breadth of skull, well defined stop, expressive eyes which are placed wide apart, ears of correct set and scissor bite. Pleasing angles front and rear and moves out well on the go around, true when going away and pretty good when coming at you. Harsh jacket. Best Puppy.

PGD (1)

1 Lucas & Tobutt’s Seveek Country Lad. 2 yr old grey brindle of pleasing type. Neck of moderate length, acceptable topline, muscular loin but a tad longer than preferred and tail set on a little higher. Pleasing head proportions, well defined stop, nice dark eye, ears set on well and scissor bite. Would like to see a little more fill in front. Moving well when viewed from behind and pretty good when coming at you. Super temperament.

LD (3)

1 Hiam’s Carradine Arfa Pint JW. I really liked the first two in this class and after some deliberation the nod went to this 22 mth old red brindle. Carrying good bone, he is all male and was lovely to go over. Well balanced with medium length of neck, level back, super ribbing, muscular loin and tail set on just right. Masculine headpiece of good proportions, well defined stop, oval shaped eyes of good colour, ears set on well, powerful muzzle and correct dentition. Good angulation both ends and moved out freely. Harsh jacket with good undercoat. Reserve Best Dog.

2 Clarke’s Furythor Mr Bojangles by Lentrica. 15 mth old dark brindle who has attitude in abundance! This boy appealed for overall type and presented a balanced outline with medium length of neck, firm level topline, good depth of chest, ribbed well back and tail set on correctly. Head of good proportions with broad skull, defined stop, dark expressive eyes, correct ear set, powerful muzzle and scissor bite. Pleasing angles front and rear and good forechest and certainly didn’t disappoint on the move. Excellent harsh jacket.

3 Purvis’ Mosspur Time and Again.

OD (1)

1 Shopland’s Cherrycrack Horatio. 2 yr old wheaten who could have made more of himself on the day. He pleased for size and type and was good to go over. Moderate length of neck, level topline, well sprung ribs, firm loin and tail good for set and carriage. Broad skull, good stop, dark expressive eyes and scissor bite. Good angles front and rear and stands on correct feet. Moving true on the down and back albeit a tad closer behind and going ok when viewed in profile. Good quality jacket.

VD (2)

1 Clarke & Jarvinen’s Multi Ch Cairnsters Mr Don Juan. 7 yr old dark brindle who was a comfortable winner in this class for me. I thought him just right for size and he is so well balanced with medium length of neck, first level topline, well sprung ribs, muscular loin and tail just right for set and carriage. Masculine head and expression; broad skull, well defined stop, excellent eye and ear, powerful muzzle and good dentition. Well made all through and carrying good bone. Moving freely and so very well handled. Super harsh jacket. Best Dog, Best Veteran and pleased to see he later took Veteran Group 4.

2 Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Birselaw Dark Charmer for Macmoon ShCM VW. 9 yr old brindle who couldn’t be more different to the winner and was carrying less bone. He pleased for outline with neck of correct length to balance, level back, pretty good rib and tail good for both set and carriage. Nicely proportioned head, eyes of good colour but a little rounder than preferred, strong muzzle and correct bite. Moving ok but could not match action of winner. Jacket lacking desired harshness.

PB (2)

1 Inett & Harrison’s Carradine Picadd Lilly. 9 mth old red brindle who is really quite raw right now and somewhat lacking coat but I thought her most promising. Pleasing to go over and presenting a lovely outline with medium length of neck, level back, good length to ribcage and rib developing well for age, muscular loin and good tail for both set and carriage. Well proportioned head with delightful expression; well defined stop, lovely dark eye, good ears and scissor bite. Well made all through and gaiting freely with excellent carriage.

2 Saich’s Lindcoly Picture Perfect. 10 mth old wheaten brindle of super type, so well balanced, feminine throughout and with a super temperament. Moderate length of neck, firm level topline, ribbed well back, well-muscled loin and tail of good set and carriage. Broad skull, well defined stop, lovely eye and ear, powerful muzzle of correct length to balance and good dentition. Sloping shoulders and standing well in front on good feet. Moves well on the go around and good when coming towards but could be firmer behind. Harsh jacket.

JB (5,1)

1 Saich’s Lindcoly Here Come’s Oh Shi. 15 mth old wheaten brindle who won this class with some room to spare. She pleased for size and outline and was lovely to go over. Medium length of neck, level back, good length to ribcage which is well sprung, muscular loin and tail set and carried pretty well. Quality head with good skull to muzzle proportions, correct stop, dark expressive eyes, good ears and scissor bite. Super sound girl with excellent front assembly and standing on good feet. Moving well all through.

2 Parkin’s Svendalens Dancing Queen. 12 mth old red brindle who is quite different in type to the winner but another who was good to go over. Correct length of neck to balance, level topline, well ribbed back, firm loin and tail set and carried just right. Well proportioned head, broad skull, good stop, dark eyes but a tad rounder, powerful muzzle and good dentiton. Moving pretty well all through but not quite action of winner. Needs to gain more confidence.

3 Tester’s Airytykes Just Mischief.

PGB (4)

1 Tester’s Airytykes Socialite. A rather varied class which saw this 12½ mth old grey brindle come out on top and she was a comfortable winner here. She appealed for overall type and presented a balanced outline with moderate length of neck, level topline, excellent ribbing, muscular loin and tail good for set and carriage. Feminine headpiece with good breadth to skull, well defined stop, dark expressive eyes and scissor bite. Pleasing angles front and rear and she stands well naturally with nicely developed forechest. Really sound on the move and using herself as she goes. Good quality jacket. Reserve Best Bitch.

2 Saich’s Lindcoly Maleficent Mo. 21 mth old wheaten with an excellent temperament. Balanced girl with neck of medium length, firm level back, good length to ribcage but still to develop fully and tail of good set and carriage. Attractive head with feminine expression; pleasing skull, good stop, dark eye and scissor bite. Moving well on the go around but couldn’t quite match the fore and aft action of winner. Jacket of harsh texture.

3 Metcalf-Sault’s Cannwood Call Me Aggie.

LB (4)

1 Metcalf-Sault’s Cannwood Can’t Get Enough. This was another mixed class which saw this 2 yr old wheaten as my winner, scoring here for overall type and balance. Moderate length of neck, firm topline, pleasing rib, muscular loin and tail good for set and carriage. Balanced headpiece with feminine expression, defined stop, dark oval-shaped eyes, good ears and correct dentition. Front not quite her fortune either standing or on the move but she went well on the go around and is nice and firm behind.

2 Saich’s Lindcoly Phantom Menace. 21 mth old grey brindle who I thought a lovely type and she presented such a good outline with neck of correct length to balance, firm straight topline, well ribbed back and tail just right for set and carriage. Feminine head with good skull to muzzle proportions, correct stop, dark oval-shaped eyes, pretty good ears and scissor bite. Sloping shoulders and stands well naturally in front. Moves freely when viewed in profile and true when coming towards but could be more positive behind.

3 Tester’s Airytykes Hint of Mayhem.

OB (5)

1 Inett, Harrison & Bateman’s Carradine Precious Pumpkin Pie. 22 mth old red brindle who excelled for type and balance and certainly didn’t disappoint upon closer inspection. Neck of medium length which flows into sloping shoulders, firm level topline, excellent ribbing, deep brisket, well-muscled loin and tail correct for set and carriage. Quality head with good breadth to skull, well defined stop, small pointed ears of correct set, dark expressive eyes, powerful muzzle and correct dentition. Alert, active girl who moved freely all through and made the most of herself at all times. Harsh jacket of natural appearance. Best Bitch & BOB.

2 Saich’s Lindcoly Ocean Dream. 2 yr old grey brindle who presented a lovely outline and pleased for overall type. Neck of correct length to balance, level back, correct spring of rib with brisket reaching the elbow, muscular loin and tail good for set and carriage. Attractive head with feminine expression; good skull to muzzle proportions, defined stop, pleasing eye and ear and good dentition. Good angles front and rear and well developed forechest. Moving out well when viewed in profile with confident carriage but could not match winner on the down and back. Good quality jacket.

3 Tester’s Airytykes Excuse Me.

VB (2)

1 Smith’s Cannwood Misty Dawn at Gethlee. 7 yr old wheaten winning here with some room to spare. She appealed for overall type and was good to go over. Moderate length of neck, level topline, nice spring of rib, well muscled loin and tail correct for set and carriage. I thought her head and expression quite lovely; good breadth to skull, defined stop, nice dark eye, ears of correct set and good dentition. Pleasing angles and stands well naturally with lovely forechest. Free-flowing action and good carriage. Harsh jacket.

2 Saich’s Lindcoly Sweetest Oreo. 7 yr old dark brindle. This girl is a tad longer cast and therefore didn’t quite present the outline I was looking for. Having said that she has a good neck, firm level topline and tail which is good for both set and carriage. Feminine headpiece with pleasing skull, defined stop, powerful muzzle but a little longer and scissor bite. Moves out well when viewed in profile but winner had the edge coming and going.

SBB (1)

1 Metcalf-Sault’s Cannwood Quiet Reflections. 3 yr old wheaten brindle who unfortunately was not at all settled and therefore not showing herself off as she might. Neck of medium length, level topline and tail of correct carriage when using it. Nicely proportioned head with pleasing eye and ear and scissor bite. Stands well naturally in front on good feet and is correctly angulated both ends. Difficult to fully assess movement. Best Special Beginners.
