CAIRN TERRIER

My thanks to the Committee for my judging appointment, to my stewards for their hard work and to my exhibitors for their patience for their long wait for our ring to become available. Exhibits overall were in good condition, some were out of coat and lacking feathering, that is to be expected for the time of year. Back movement was close and on some exhibits fronts were also at fault. However, I was happy with my final selection, Best of Breed was one of those and/either situations but in the final assessment the maturity of the dog just had the edge, as he still was on his toes and attentive even in the 'sticky' heat.

JD (1)

1 Carter & Clarke's Lentrica Rocket Man At Carernwil. 18 mths cream in full coat and feathering, showing off a well shaped head with clear stop, dark eyed and good ear carriage, correct bite. Has ratio to size with a nice length of neck set onto shoulders, good spring of rib with tuck up and is short coupled, turn of stifle let down onto hocks. Neat feet and good tail set which he maintained on the move.

PGD (2)

1 Lamb & Saltmarsh's Birselaw Dark Charmer For Macmoon ShCM. Dark brindle. Out of coat but this did not deter from his good points showing through. Head is well defined, although lacking its feathering. Correct dentition. Overall nice ratio for size. Fair reach of neck set onto shoulders. Depth of brisket with nice angulations and turn of stifle. Good topline and tail set. Moved soundly and with drive

2 Saich's Lindcoly Holwing Mad Murdoc. Cream, has all the virtues of first but lost out on movement. Toes in at front.

OD (3)

1 Purvis' Mighty Rearranger With Mosspur. RBD. Has a good ring presence and all major points. Shown in good condition and was well handled.

2 Lamb & Saltmarsh's Renshaw There And Back Again Under Macmoon ShCM. Bl/brindle. I liked this dog was eyecatching as he entered the ring and certainly has an outgoing personality. Unfortunately has a
dentition fault and was pulling over on the front when on the move. Otherwise has all standard points.

3 Saich's Lindcoly Sword In The Stone.

VD (1)

1 Lamb & Saltmarsh's Birslaw Fable Of Macmoon ShCM. BD. Bl/brindle. What a character and a good ambassador for the breed. Came 'strutting 'into the ring with that great ring presence, was a difficult decision for Best of Breed, but I felt this dog in the challenge oozed quality that one expects from a 'winner'. At 8 years of age can still hold his own in any challenge. BOB/BD/BV.

PB (3)

1 Saich's Lindcoly Miss Ivana NAF TAF. Cream. BP. Promising youngster. Coat is still coming through and lacks head feathering but has ratio to size with well shaped head, neat ears and correct bite. Nice reach of neck set onto shoulders. Good conformation throughout. Still to drop brisket but has tuck up and short coupling. Movement a little loose but should tighten with maturity

2 Tester's Lindcoly Such Fun. Cream. Another promising youngster who presents a good overall picture. Head will look better when feathering has grown, but is still a nice shape with stop and correct dentition. Has all major points with sound movement.

3 Saich's Lindcoly Moana Tilly NAF.

JB (3, 1)

1 Saich's Lindcoly Strong Enough. Cream. Feminine and to size. Lacks feathering but in better coat than second. Nicely balanced with a well shaped head. Neat ear carriage, dark eye and correct bite. Good reach of neck, level topline, good tail set and matured body. Nice turn of stifle let down to hocks. Moved soundly around the ring.

2 Saich's Lindcoly Miss Pot Noodle. Wheaten. Nice ring presence with lovely expression. Well defined head with correct bite. Good reach of reach of neck set onto shoulders. Level topline and good tail set. Conformation to size with a nice turn of stifle. Let down by movement that is close on back.

PGB (4)

1 Saich's Lindcoly Sweetest Oreo. RBB. Eyecatching Wheaten. Good overall conformation to size with a well shaped head and correct bite. Typical 'Cairn' alert expression. Has nice front, spring of rib, tuck up and is short coupled. Moved soundly around the ring.

2 Tester's Lindcoly Hint Of Trouble. Cream. Has all the major points of first. Just lacked 'sparkle' today and who could blame her with the 'sticky' weather.

3 Purvis' Mosspur Time After Time.

OB (2)

1 Clarke's Ch Lentrica Dolly Daydream JW. BB. Wheaten. Loved this bitch the moment she entered the ring she demanded attention. All qualities were there including good conformation to size, a well shaped head. Neat ear carriage, dark eyed. Correct bite. Her neck gently slopes into her shoulders. She has a level topline and good tail set, that is maintained on the move. Fore and hindquarters are cleanly angulated and she has a nice turn of stifle. A nice depth of chest, tuck up and is short coupled. Head feathering and coat was better than second. Another sound mover.

2 Tester's Lindcoly Don't Take My Man. Wheaten. Just lacking on head feathering and movement is close on the back. Otherwise presents a good picture of ratio to size and has all other major points.

VB (3, 2)

1 Saich's Lindcoly Here's Olive. Cream, 9 years old and still 'strutting her stuff'. Shown in good coat with good overall conformation.Well shaped head, ear carriage and distinct stop. Correct bite, great expression, nice length of neck set onto shoulders with clean angulations, a nice turn of stifle let down onto hocks. Shown in good condition and was well handled by junior handler in challenge.
