CAIRN JUDGE DRIFFIELD 15

Cairn Terriers

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge the show & award CCs for the first time. Also a big thank you to all the exhibitors who entered, some who had travelled long distances, I was extremely happy with the quality of my entry & thoroughly enjoyed my day.

MPD (1)

1 Dennis’ Svendalens Into Mischief, 7 month wheaten with dark points. Correct mouth with large teeth, level topline, correct tailset. Needs to tighten up in front but good rear movement. Shown in profuse coat & could benefit from losing a little weight.

PD (2,1a)

1 Keeves’s Seveek I Spied That Dream, 10 months red, rangy type with good quality coat. Good head with correct mouth & teeth, deep stop. Good length of neck, correct shoulders, level topline & correct tailset. Moved OK once settled, but easily distracted today. Lots to like. BPD.

JD (4)

1 Inett, Harrison, King & Leighton’s Carradine George Flies with Harkinleigh, mature wh/br with the best of heads & expressions, deep stop, neat ears, correct mouth. Good front, nice reach of neck flowing into well laid shoulders, level topline. In excellent coat & condition, he moves well with drive from behind. Pushed hard for RCC;

2 Weinberger’s Correnie No No Romeo, r/br, at 14 months he is rangier then 1st & not as mature. Liked his overall outline & length of leg. Good head & expression, level topline, correct tailset. Moved & showed really well, shown in excellent coat, needs to body up;

3 Marshall’s Brenndarcy Lord Marmaduke avec Strathgarten.

YD (1)

1 Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Bireslaw Dark Charmer, light gr/br with a good head, dark eye, correct mouth. Good outline with level topline, he moves OK but had no coat today & would like a lot more of him.

PGD (4)

1 Weinberger’s Correnie Hurricne Fly, r/br who stood out when he entered the ring. Loved his overall shape. He has the most attractive head, dark eyes with alert expression, deep stop & correct mouth. Straight front with well laid shoulders, level topline & correct tailset, nice length of leg. Shown in excellent coat & condition, he moves with drive. Just needs to body up & I am sure he will take top honours;

2 Peers’ Tweedisle Relight My Fire, harsh coated red with a lovely head & expression, good stop, neat ears. He was lovely to handle on the table, good length of neck, correct shoulders, level topline & correct tailset. Moved well once settled. More coat would help the overall picture;

3 Parkin’s Carradine My Mate Mathew.

LD (3)

1 Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Renshaw There And Back Again, dark brindle, not a big dog but he is well balanced. Good head, correct stop, dark eye. Clean outline with correct texture coat, good topline & tailset. Moves well front & rear;

2 Inett & Engebretsen’s Carradine Dexter, compact dark brindle shown in excellent coat & condition. True masculine head & expression, good mouth with large teeth, level topline Good rear action, well handled & never stopped showing;

3 Drew’s Tycando Thriller at L’Artiste.

OD (4,1)

1 Waites’ Svendalens Snow Knight, gr/br with masculine head & expression, good stop, excellent mouth with large clean teeth. Good length of neck flowing into correct shoulders, straight front, well sprung ribs, level topline & correct tailset. Harsh double coat, well balanced, he is in excellent condition, moves with purpose & drive. Pleased to award him DCC;

2 Shannon & Storr’s Kaplan Dr I Am Gr Ch Brenndarcy Borgen Re, light red with lovely head & expression, deep stop, neat ears. Smaller type then 1st but so well balanced. Enough neck with clean shoulders, good front, level topline, correct tailset. Shown in shorter but harsh jacket. Where he excels is in movement, probably the best mover on the day, so true both ways he just glides around the ring. RCC;

3 Bateman & Gompels’ Carridine Terries Tipple.

GCD (2)

1 C My Mate Mathew, 3rd in strong class in PGD, gr/br with expressive head, neat ears. Nice size & outline with level topline. Shown in good coat, he moved OK;

2 Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Birselaw Fable, dark gr/br with masculine head, correct mouth. Lovely outline with level topline held on the move, moved well today.

MPB (2,1

) 1 Carter’s Carernwil Picture Purfect, 8 month full coated wheaten with lovely feminine head, good mouth. Lovely outline with good reach of neck, level topline, correct tailset, good rear movement but still a little loose in front. A real handful but she should have a good future.

PB (5)

Lovely class of five nice puppies all in different stages of maturity.

1 Clarke’s Lentricia Dolly Daydream, beautiful headed wheaten in full coat of correct texture. Correct mouth with large strong teeth. Lovely reach of neck, strong front, plenty of forechest, level topline held on the move. Moved well & is a true show girl. BPB, BP;

2 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Moonstruck, well balanced red with lovely outline. Loved her head, great expression, good proportions, correct mouth, well laid shoulders, level topline & correct tailset. Another steady mover, coat of good quality but on short side today;

3 Keeves’ Seveek Hopes ‘N’ Dreams.

JB (1)

1 Inett, Harrison & Clayton’s Carradine Connies Kirsty, wh/br who stood alone but a quality bitch I have admired from the side of the ring. Best of heads, good stop, neat ears, clean neck & shoulders, level topline & correct tailset. Presented in top condition with beautiful coat, she moved with drive around the ring. RCC.

YB (2)

1 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Fortune Teller, gr/br who took my eye the minute she entered the ring. Beautiful head with wicked expression, deep stop, neat ears, correct muzzle, good mouth with big white teeth. Enough neck flowing into correct shoulders, straight front, good spring of ribs, level topline & correct tailset, good quality coat. She moved with purpose around the ring & never stopped showing. Presented & handled to perfection she demands attention. Stunning! CC & BOB;

2 Drew’s Miketos Marvelous Fiona at L’Artiste, harsh coated red of a smaller type then 1. Pretty head emphasised by dark points, neat ears, correct mouth, level topline & good tailset. She moves & shows well.

PGB (3)

1 Bradshaw’s Newfield Michaelmas Daisy, deep r/br with feminine head, good eye, deep stop, correct mouth. Compact bitch in good, if somewhat profuse coat, bang on topline & tailset. Moved well;

2 Ball’s Tweslam Jazzing It Up at Calamondin, harsh coated wheaten with dark points, liked her overall shape, level topline, correct tailset which she did not use to her best advantage. Moved OK;

3 Lomax’s Bireslaw Heart Of Glass at Quickmere.

LB (1)

1 McGrath’s Brenndarcy Cinnamon Girl for Owenreagh, eyecatching red with beautifully presented harsh coat. Pretty head with correct proportions, dark eyes, good stop, correct mouth. Well balanced with good outline, she is in tip top condition. Moves really well, lots to like, she was a little too much on her toes today.

OB (3)

1 Felters & Rumens’ Ch Landbuck Xanthe, wheaten bitch who is a past favourite of mine. Not a big bitch, she is so well balanced which shows in her movement – she just glides around the ring. Beautiful feminine head with wicked expression, good stop, correct mouth, spirit level topline & correct tailset. Today she was lacking in coat & condition & did not have that spark I have seen in the past;

2 Keeves’ Ch Seveek Living The Dream, another worthy champion, red bitch, rangier type then 1st. Another quality bitch whose movement is true both ways & level topline held on the move, correct tailset. She was also between coats. Close between these two, just preferred the head of 1;

3 Carter’s Brenndarcy Dizzie Lizzie at Carernwil.

GCB (1)

1 S Living The Dream.
