CAIRN BORDER UNION 09 Judge(s) MR LIAM DEAN DCC CH LARCHLEA LICENCE TO THRILL AT STANEDYKES (MR J POLLOCK) My first CC appointment. I found the day very enjoyable & was generally impressed with the high level of quality Cairns in the entry. Movement in general was good & all temperaments were excellent. PD (4) 1 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Trouble At Mill, wheaten/br with strong movement, a typical Cairn with correct expression, he was both alert & lively in the ring & moved well with plenty of drive, nice strong white teeth with the correct bite; 2 Mears’ Glenmear Marauder, dark brindle with a good double coat, well proportioned with good length of leg & a correct firm topline & good tailset; 3 Saich’s Lindcoly Can We Fix It. JD (4) 1 Catto’s Birselaw Follow Your Dream, a lovely well furnished brindle with an excellent harsh outer coat & soft undercoat, broad masculine head & strong jaw with large teeth & an obvious scissor bite, excellent length of leg, good bend of stifle, moved with drive, strong movement; 2 Firth & Jones’ Cairngold Spin Of The Wheel, a strong, well muscled, wheaten dog, his movement was very free & he moved with drive, a strong level topside, tailset carriage was good. A little more furnishing needed; 3 Wall’s Cloverbrook Ray Of Sunshine over Shearwater. ND (2) 1 Marshall’s Strathgarten Crackerjack, nice red dog with a good double coat, albeit on the short side. Typical broad head, excellent ear carriage, his dark hazel eyes wide apart made for a typical expression; 2 Miller’s Birselaw Badger’s Dream for Cornton, grey/br, typical expression with good ear & tail carriage, good length of back & leg, moved well. Coat let him down. PGD (4,2a) 1 Inett & Harrison’s Noncom Inett Tu Winnit with Carradine, striking wheaten/br with lovely dark points & dark hazel eyes giving a typical expression. A strong muscular dog with well sprung ribs & a correct level back, moved well with drive & strong front & rear movement, good weather resistant double coat; 2 Smith’s Rocasovale Razzle Dazzle, strong dark brindle dog with well sloping shoulders, good length of leg & level back. Short in coat & didn’t move as well as 1. LD (4,1) 1 RCC, Templeton’s Larchlea Time To Entertain, very nice, dark brindle with a well furnished head & an excellent double coat, good reach of neck & correct shoulders, very strong quarters, good length of leg & a correct bend of stifle ensured he moved round the ring freely & with drive, well presented, showed well; 2 Saich’s Kiataia Masquerade, lovely red with dark points on his ears, good heavy coat, although slightly short, like 1 he had strong quarters & a good length of leg. A little unsettled in the ring, his movement let him down; 3 Peer’s Tweedisle Guy Mannering. OD (4,1) 1 CC & BOB, Pollock’s Ch Larchlea Licence To Thrill at Stanedykes, eyecatching quality r/br in excellent coat, ideal head furnishings & strong dark points, lovely broad head, good neck & shoulders & a firm backline leading to a correct tailset, strong quarters with a good bend of stifle, moved freely with drive, enjoyed the ring & at all times appeared agile & alert, didn’t stop showing; 2 Middlehurst’s Zalazar Un Zipped! at Starveren, a lovely red dog with a well structured double coat, although slightly short. Good reach of neck, well sloping shoulders & excellent level back, typical expression with a strong jaw & nice big white teeth with the correct scissor bite; 3 Moseley & Inett’s Spawyche Elizabethan Onyx. PB (9,1) 1 BP, Shaw’s Honeyhall Halliwell, an impressive red with a wonderful expression, typical head, well furnished with dark points & a good reach of neck leading to a level back, well constructed & well balanced, moved freely driving from her strong hindquarters & enjoyed the showing experience; 2 Berrecloth’s Sybster Sonja, wheaten with well furnished head, good stop & well placed ears, a good harsh outer coat & a nice soft undercoat, good level back with good tailset, moved & showed well; 3 Braybrook’s Cloverbrook Xtra Factor. JB (9) 1 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Button It, lovely well furnished head with well placed eyes, good stop, dark points & well placed ears gave her a marvellous expression, well presented, had an effective double coat, in excellent condition, balanced outline, moved well with plenty of drive using her strong rearquarters to propel her; 2 Catto’s Birselaw Bewitched, lovely brindle bitch in excellent condition & well presented, excellent front, good length of neck set on well sloping shoulders, correct topline, looked well both standing & on the move, showed well; 3 Bambridge’s Luvemal Cherry Bea. NB (1) 1 Bradshaw’s Newfield Dawn Spirit, red bitch with a lovely feminine Cairn expression, good broad head, well placed eyes & ears, good length of back & good length of leg although didn’t move particularly well. Her coat was not in great condition although she was well presented. PGB (6) 1 Inett & Harrison’s Noncom Minnie The Minx at Carradine, eyecatching wheaten bitch with lovely dark points, her coat was in excellent condition & well presented. A straight front, good length of neck with correct angulations, level topline & strong thighs provided her with excellent free flowing movement; 2 Felters & Rumens’ Landbuck Jazz Hands, lovely wheaten bitch in good coat, typical expression with well placed ears & lovely dark hazel eyes well set apart, good front, nice length of neck & back, well constructed although she didn’t move as well as 1; 3 Bradshaw’s Newfield Dawn Spirit. LB (9) 1 Firth & Jones’ Cairngold Candlelight, lovely red bitch with her coat in excellent condition, a soft & close undercoat & a harsh outercoat, good broad head, nice furnishings & dark hazel eyes with well positioned ears, their dark points gave her a wonderful feminine expression, muscular quarters & strong pads ensured she moved well; 2 Shaw’s Honeyhall Hide N Seek, well presented red bitch with dark points on her ears, lovely feminine head with good strong teeth & correct ear placement, well balanced in good coat & condition, well muscled hindquarters & good front, neck & shoulders ensured she was equipped to move well & she did; 3 Clarke’s Conundrum Sweeter For Me for Lentrica. OB (4,1) 1 CC, Inett, Harrison & Clayton’s Carradine Magic Star, dark brindle, lovely expression, attractive head with mischievous dark eye, she performed well in the ring showing a lively disposition, stood well forward on her forelegs & moved well with drive from well muscled rearquarters & a very flowing stride, well sprung ribs & level back, very alert at all times in the ring & showed well; 2 RCC, Firth & Jones’ Cairngold Avin A Paddy, dark brindle, well furnished head with a lovely expression, large, strong, white teeth, good stop & good ear placement, good reach of neck, level back & excellent tailset, very well balanced with good forechest, excellent front & level topline of correct length, moved freely & with purpose; 3 Catto’s Dutch/Bel/Lux Ch Birselaw Emma.
