Cairn Terriers

A new venue for Belfast this year which proved to be light & airy with good sized rings. Thanks to those exhibitors who made the journey.

A number of exhibits were carrying too much weight for my liking.

PD (2)

1 Catto’s Birselaw Stay With Me, brindle in full coat, up to size, yet balanced. Masculine head, dark eye, correct dentition. Showy when standing. Just needs to tighten in front movement. BP;

2 Smith’s Rocasovale Danish Delight, 9 months brindle. Not as mature or as confident as 1. In good coat. OK in head with good mouth. Rather unsettled on the move. Needs time.

JD (2)

1 Smith’s Rocasovale Distant Drums, more confident litter brother to 2 in PD. R/br with excellent coat. Pleasing head with good mouth & eye. Sound mover. Needs to keep his weight in check;

2 Alexander’s Cloverbrook Crack The Code, this cream lad wasn’t happy with the surroundings & didn’t show himself off to advantage. Good mouth & eye, just a little long in muzzle. Correct coat. Movement hard to assess.

PGD (2)

1 Anderson’s Birselaw Never Say Never at Kerrykeel, just out of junior yet maturing steadily. Up to size wheaten/br. Excels in head & expression. Correct in neck & shoulders with level topline. Moved true fore & aft. Needs new jacket to complete the picture. Pushed hard for RCC;

2 Miller’s Cornton Dark Corrie, typy dark brindle with good head. Moved & showed OK. Coat in need of some tidying.

LD (3,1a)

1 Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Renshaw There And Back Again under Macmoon, dark brindle with good head, correct stop & eye. In shorter coat which showed his clean outline & level topline. Moved well in front but a little close behind today;

2 Miller’s Cornton Coulter, larger pattern than 1 with lovely head & expression. Correct stop & dentition. Coat on the blow. Failed in topline.

OD (4)

1 Shaw’s Ch Honeyhall Headboy, judged this dog 18 months ago & have watched him mature. All male who excels in head & expression. Handles well on the table. Shown in full coat & sound condition. Expertly handled as always. Covered the ground with ease & showed all out both in the breed class & group. Delighted to award him CC & BOB;

2 Catto’s Ch Birselaw The Thrill Of It All, gave this dog RCC last time I judged him & again today. A worthy champion who excels in head. Well constructed throughout. Shown in full coat of correct texture. Steady mover & showman. RCC;

3 Hogarthy’s Cadagio Don’t Stop Me Now.

PB (3,1)

1 Miller’s Cornton Rosemaree, feminine wheaten with pleasing head. Good mouth & eye. Coat of correct texture. Just needs a little attention. Moved & showed steadily. Watch her weight;

2 Gut’s Lauren Bacal Du Harpouy D Auzan, eyecatching red shown in her ‘underwear’ today hence her placing. Good in head with correct mouth & eye. Neat ears. Balanced outline with well angulated hindquarters which enabled her to cover the ground with ease. Will watch her progress with interest.

JB (1)

1 Hogarty’s Cadagio As Long As You Have Me, another eyecatching red with balanced outline. Pleasing head & expression. Clean neck & shoulders. Correct front & rear assembly. In short coat of correct texture & firm condition. Covered the ground well. Lots to like about this bitch.

PGB (2,1)

1 Owen’s Caldwell Carefree, litter sister to CC winner yet not as mature or confident. Pleasing in head & expression. Overall construction good. In correct coat. Needs to be more responsive to her owner.

LB (2)

Two lovely bitches. Close decision between them both.

1 Owen’s Caldwell Call The Shots, feminine cream with typical Cairn expression. Good for size & balance. Clean outline & correct tailset. Well presented & handled once she settled. Covered the ground well. Pleased to her award her CC;

2 Hughes & Hooton’s Gyncairn Believe In Magic, another well presented cream with balanced outline. Feminine head. Good neck & shoulders. Moved true out & back. Expertly handled. Preferred topline of 1. RCC.

OB (3)

1 Hogarty’s Ir Ch Cadagio Turning Tables, mature r/br with good head & expression. Soundly made with balanced outline. Good coat. Topline held on the move. Moved out well. Not so positive in front;

2 Coate’s Penticharm Starlight, dark brindle. Correct balance with good reach of neck & level topline. OK in head with correct mouth in eye. Movement rather wayward at times;

3 Alexander’s Ch/Ir Ch Stirlingview Peggy Sue.
