CAIRN BELFAST 12 Judge(s): MR R H CROYMAN With regards to the Cairn Terriers it was a compact entry with the bitches having the overall edge on quality over the dogs. Temperaments without exception were good, a few new coats required, movement still an issue, front and back, the odd narrow skull and small teeth plus some exhibits with distinct lack of muscle tone and substance, however, on a positive note there were some very fine exhibits also there. Puppy Dog – 2 1st - Catto's – Birselaw The Thrill of it All: Smart wheaten brindle with a good outline, moved OK on strong legs and feet, top-line and tail set fine, awarded Best Puppy in Breed, and achieved Group 3 in the Terrier Puppy Group. 2nd – Miller's – Cornton Coulter: Very similar to 1 in all departments, showed very well, needing a new coat. Junior Dog – no entries Post Graduate Dog -3 1st – Byrne & Inett's – Carradine Brian the Lion: Very showy brindle, moved well both ways, nice length of back and loin with good bone, jacket past it's best and would benefit from more head furnishings. 2nd – Hogarty's – Cadagio Someone like you: Rich copper brindle with strong head and expression, dark eye and correct ear placement, first rate muscle tone, however, would not settle either way on the move. Limit Dog - 5 1st – Robert's – Cannwood Cut Above: Sound wheaten well put down in good coat, first class head, reach of neck into good shoulders, nice spring of rib drove well off strong rear quarters, awarded RDCC. 2nd – Cameron's – Stryveling Rocket Man: Copper brindle in profuse coat, sound dog , however, would like a little more substance. 3rd – Catto's – Birselaw Bobby Darin Open Dog – 1 1st - Hogarty's – Cadagio More than a Feeling: A first class looking male up to size, super reach of neck with a strong well furnished head, level top-line and well set on tail, powerful rear quarters resulting in good rear movement, correct textured wheaten double coat. Awarded the CC and BOB. Puppy Bitch – no entries Junior Bitch – 2 1st – Clarke's – Lentrica Sweet Sensation: Very feminine wheaten brindle, well put down and never stopped showing, moved well both ways, correct mouth and dark eye, nice lay of shoulder, coat requires a change. 2nd – Hogarty's – Cadagio Turning Tables: Copper brindle in harsh coat, up to size, very alert and full of ring presence, super dark mask well boned and would not settle on the move which affected the front action. Post Graduate Bitch – 4, 1 absent 1st - Kinton's – Woodthorpe Playin for Thyme: Well balance brindle lovely outline when on the move, feminine head and expression, good mouth, nice bend of stifle and parallel hocks, well ribbed. 2nd – Inett, Harrison, King & Leighton's – Carradine I am Florence with Harkinleigh: Red brindle with new coat coming, good angulation, dark mask, good length of leg, top-line and tail-set spot on when on the move. 3rd – Dean's – Orior Hi Fi Limit Bitch – 3 1st – Inett's – Carradine Come on Irene JW: Very workmanlike harsh coated brindle who never put a foot wrong, showed all out, covered the ground with ease both ways, did not disappoint on the table, at the CTC Centenary Show 2010, I awarded her best puppy who has now matured on and delighted to award her the CC. 2nd – Buchan's Carradine Little Cracker at Drayem: Nice feminine brindle, new coat required, moved and showed well.
