Miniature Bull Terriers

I was so shocked to find so many inverted canines in the breed. I do consider this a serious health issue & felt it my duty to abide by KC directions & withhold prizes where I thought there was a serious health issue. I considered slightly undershot or dropped incisors to be a fault only & placed those dogs, as I did the fat dogs, high tailset dogs & oversized dogs. This is the most I have ever withheld in any breed at a ch show in this country; & can only say to breeders that you really should address this fault as a matter of urgency. There were enough males & females present with perfect bites to be used in breeding. The winners were lovely examples of the breed. Pleased to hear it was the male’s 3rd CC & the bitch’s 5th CC; with two very good terriers in reserve spots. I did think carefully about my actions & realise as an exhibitor myself, just how costly it is to attend shows. I could not let this grave fault pass however & hope that things improve in the next few years.

PD (2) 1, 2 Withheld,

1 totally untrained & the other with inverted canines.

JD (1) 1 W/h, repeat from previous class.

PGD (1)

1 W/h;

2 Lewis’ Lafenice Joey Tribiani, undershot by a long way, otherwise a nice boy. Pleasing down face, very well muscled, tail set too high & carried up. Excellent quarters & moved well.

LD (3,1a)

1 Cserfalvi-Young’s Ducassos Coeur De Lion, lovely headed dog, pleasing fill in a roman finish. Rather straight in shoulders & dips behind the withers. Tail set too high & croup too flat. Lovely quarters, well ribbed & very powerful all through;

2 Whittaker’s Wengormick Petite Pirate, a bigger boy, not the fill in under the eyes of winner, better shoulder than winner, overstretched himself standing & underline could have more tuck up, fair mover.

OD (7,2)

1 CC, Dobbin & Scanlan’s Debully Shooting Star, grand dog, lovely head, down face in sweeping for top of skull to tip of nose. Smallish eyes set well in, strong muzzle, sound front, short firm back, well set tail. I would little less weight & a slight tuck up, otherwise a star;

2 RCC, Phillips’ Bullyon Back To The Measure, a little squarer & not the lay of shoulder of above. He does look a miniature though & has a smart outline. Just a trifle long cast, good quarters, tail carried too high. Super width & he looks to have some quality;

3 Persland’s Kofyn Kontrolled Explosion.

PB (6,2)

1 BP, McGregor’s Gwenevere Merlindan von Amadis, lovely bitch baby, nicely made tailset & carried too high otherwise a really beautiful girl, full of promise, gorgeous head & dark eyes, strong underjaw, neat ears, strong well rounded neck, good front & rear angulation & a nice sound & jaunty mover;

2 Richardson’s Quayardson Lady Willow, another lovely bitch. Just a little more forward in shoulder than winner. Liked her head & profile of down face, just a slight break over the eyes, good body, tail set too high, powerful rear & she too moves well if ‘bouncy’;

3 Wright’s Hofstetter My Intimate.

JB (5,2)

1 RCC, Newberry’s Ukusa Maleficent, lovely bitch of 13 months, striking outline, lovely head & finish, ears set well back & neatly erect, sound front & rear, sweeping outline from nose to tail, I liked her a lot & she moves truly, she played up in the challenge but was ahead of her competitors enough to win the RCC;

2 McGregor’s Grandopera Mockingbird of Merlindan, a bit plainer & longer in back. Also has a good outline & is very feminine. Good bite (after a struggle with her mouth), fair mover, needs a touch more bone I thought;

3 W/h.

PGB (2)

1 Hughes’ Call Me Beauty Von Deutsche Stil at Graymor, lovely size & super temperament, good head, eyes set well in dark & sparkling. A bit over weight in body & she could lose a little in her tummy, it would strengthen her topline. Good pigment & moves OK;

2 W/h.

LB (4,)

1 Whittaker’s Wengormick Petite Playgirl, liked her head & expressive eyes, maybe needs a little more underjaw & certainly needs some tuck up, powerful straight mover, good bone for size. Big enough though;

2 Shipp’s Duvessa Gaia, a touch smaller, but rather long in back & very flat over croup, tail set too high, moves well all round;

3 Carroll’s Badlesmere Betty Boo.

OB (2)

1 CC & BOB, Presland’s Ch Kofyn Kandy Krush, her movement is certainly perfection, absolutely true, straight & jaunty, top size, sweeping down face, cheeks could be a touch smoother. Nicely set eyes, good bone, tail set too high. In good coat & muscular condition;

2 Vickers’ Duvessa Last Lady, her ears are amazing, correct as the standard requires. Absolutely erect, thin, placed close together & they do add to her appeal. I admired her head, front placed too far forward & she pins in. OK in body & rear. Tail too high set & carried up.
