MINIATURE BULL NATIONAL TERRIER 12 Judge(s) MALCOLM J PRESLAND DCC QUAYARDSON SIR ALBUS (MRS S & MISS J RICHARDSON) Min Bull Terriers My first set of CCs in this breed. I had a lovely entry of 39 with just 7 absent. Size is still a problem with only a small number going under the measure but balance is far more important. Mouths were mixed, some very good, some OK & some horrendous & these were rewarded or penalised accordingly. I was looking first & foremost for a show dog with attitude which this lovely breed should have in spades. I felt that the bitches had more strength in depth than the dogs but was very pleased with all my winners. MPD (1) 1 Kirby’s Bullypins Avenger, b/br/w, 7 months baby with everything going for him, good for size with powerful masculine head, turned & filled & good bite, well arched neck to short back with a well set tail, good round bone down to tidy feet, moved OK once settled. Just preferred his litter sister’s movement for BP. JD (3) 1 Bennett’s Quayardson Sir Alfred, a little over the measure but well balanced, 15 months tri with lovely head & expression, mouth OK, well set ears used well, nice round bone down to tidy feet, moved well; 2 Hughes’ Graymor Gatoni, white of just over 12 months, smaller type to 1 with a powerful head which is turned & filled with correct eye shape, short back & well set tail, moved OK once settled. Preferred mouth of 1. PGD (2) 1 Manoli’s Belcanto Toreador, white with black eye patch, short cobby body with good head shape although has a slight mouth fault, well set ears & correct eye shape but would like a little more fill. Moved OK; 2 Redpath’s Manduessedum Vittorio, br/w, different type to 1, well over the measure. Good head shape & correct mouth, well set tail, moved well. Preferred profile & overall balance of 1. LD (4) 1 Vickers’ Kings Spike From Duvessa, white, a little over the measure, in good condition, nice head with enough profile & wicked eye, short back & well set tail, moved best of class; 2 Richardson’s Quayardson Sir Arthur, tri, larger type than 1, lovely head which is well turned & filled, good eye shape, good neck & shoulder with nice round bone, good feet, moved OK. Preferred the size of 1; 3 Dodwell’s Decadance Defender. OD (3) 1 Richardson’s Quayardson Sir Albus, b/br/w, lovely dog from all angles in pristine condition, although a little over the measure showed correct balance to size, a real bull terrier in miniature, powerful masculine head with turn & fill, ears bang on top which he used well, most wicked of expressions attained by desired eye shape, long strong neck to good shoulders & topline, tail well set & movement true for & aft & in typical jaunty style. CC, his 2nd, & BOB, acquitted himself well in a very strong group, I’m sure his 3rd will not be far off; 2 Harrison’s Jenkir Thor, b/w, smaller type to 1 being right on the measure, I have judged before & gets better each time, powerful head with turn & fill, perfect mouth & ears on top which he used well, good strong neck & shoulder with correct topline & good tailset, moved & handled well. RCC, pushed hard for the top award but I just preferred the ring presence of 1; 3 Dobbin & Van Eck’s Debully Frantic. MPB (2) 1 Llewellyn’s Bullypins Kalypso, b/br/w, 7 months baby litter sister to Avenger with the same attributes, head coming on well, good mouth, ears well set, enough bone down to tidy feet, her movement clinched her BP, will watch her & her brother’s progress with interest, went well in a strong puppy group; 2 Vicker’s Duvessa Delicia, solid brindle, good for size with powerful head, well set ears used well, short in back with enough bone. Unfortunately has a mouth fault which cost her. PB (3) 1 Dance’s Decadance Diamond, 10 months b/w, lovely feminine head, correct eye shape, ears bang on top which she used well, short back with well set tail, nice round straight bone to good feet, moved & handled well; 2 Ring’s Bouncing Gems Ashford Maiden, 9 months b/w, a real baby but has everything going for her, good for size with a feminine head with enough turn & fill, dark eye & well set ears. Just needs to mature on; 3 Sharp’s Bellau Dream Come True. JB (7) 1 Thornley’s Warbonnet Tinkerbell, 13 months tri, good for size with lovely head with turn & fill, well set ears, mouth OK, short back, well set tail, enough bone to tidy feet, moved OK once settled. RCC; 2 Peakin’s Graymor Galliano by Byzantine, 12 months showy r/w, unexaggerated attractive head with enough turn & fill to suffice & complemented with a wicked eye for a coloured, moved best of class, real showgirl who when mature will push hard for top honours; 3 Preugschat’s Potsu De Notsu Ice Cream With Candy. PGB (5) 1 Severn’s Olympusbulys Alaena, b/w, a little over the measure but with a wicked eye & good mouth, profile OK, nice body shape with straight round bone to good feet, moved OK; 2 Ring’s Rebel Spirit Domino, small white going well under the measure, head & mouth OK, short back & well set tail. Would like a little more of her all round; 3 P De Notsu Ice Cream With Candy. LB (6) 1 Thornley & Jarvis’ Seaquest Warrior Maiden, eyecatching white with a feminine head although I would prefer a little more profile. Well set ears, good for size, well angulated rear, moved & handled well. Considered for RCC; 2 Hughes’ Graymor Geneva small br/w with powerful yet feminine head, good mouth & well set ears, good for size. Played her handler up a little on move; 3 Manoli’s Seaquest Ballykissangel. OB (6) 1 Whittaker’s Wengormick Petit Lady, white I have judged before & seems to get better & better, lovely from all angles, in pristine condition, although a little over the measure showed correct balance to size, a real bull terrier in miniature, powerful yet feminine head with turn & fill, ears bang on top which she used well, most wicked of expressions attained by desired eye shape, long strong neck to good shoulders & short back with good topline held well on move which was true fore & aft. CC, her 2nd; 2 Phillips’ Ducassos Clear Measure of Bullyon, lovely white I have liked from the ringside. Really played her handler up & it was difficult to assess her movement which cost her dearly; 3 Dance’s Decadance Dragonfly. MALCOLM J PRESLAND |
