MINIATURE BULL BORDER UNION 11 Judge(s) MR D CLARK DCC TRANSCEND FESTIVAL FLUTTER WITH INDIZAK (MRS N & MISS I M JONES) Miniature Bull Terriers As this show is off the beaten track I’d forgotten what an attractive venue it is, only a stone’s throw from the market town centre of Kelso. I was pleased with the entry & turnout & the weather kindly held off for the duration. Overall quality was good, although even though the new PLL blood test is now available I would urge breeders not to sacrifice make, shape & balance on the altar of size. Shorter forelegs, poor shoulders & toplines may help them fit under the measure but does nothing for overall balance & construction. PD (1) 1 Stephen’s Seayess Tartan Moon, 7 months white, although a little hesitant he is very typy with lovely head & expression, having width, fill & correct mouth. Well balanced with good shoulder & front, correct topline, shapely quarters, excellent mover behind. JD (1) 1 Jones’ Transcend Festival Flutter with Indizak, very typy & masculine tri, excellent strong well arched head with width, fill & good expression with correct ear carriage & mouth, lots of bone & substance, standing foursquare with decent front, good topline & shapely quarters used to good effect moving well behind with real drive. CC & BOB. PGD (0) LD (1) 1 Dodwell’s Decadance Defender, upstanding b/br/w, very typy with good clean head with width, fill & finish, good expression, a little more arc would complete the picture. Would like better shoulder & rear action, needing more drive but handsome masculine dog with good bone & substance. OD (4) Close call between 1 & 2. 1 Barrett’s Duvessa Code Red Margins, took class quality, lovely classical head & punishing expression. Incisors correct although one canine is misplaced & the other tight. Moved adequately behind & has decent topline & shapely quarters. RCC; 2 Vickers’ Edgar Wilde from Duvessa, more mature white with lovely head in profile, although a little ‘cheeky’ front on. Good expression & level bite, although teeth rather stained. Good front although moved adequately, needing a bit more drive. PB (2) 1 Sharp’s Bellalu Blonde Moment, very attractive 8 months r/w, lovely feminine head with excellent well arched profile & good expression. Girlish wriggling made it difficult to assess mouth & needs little more width of muzzle. Upstanding & moved very well behind, just needing bit more substance. JB (4) 1 Lawrence’s Badlesmere Bid For Gold with Cajuma, very typy & smart r/w, good flowing lines, moving well, good head & expression, correct mouth. Just refusing to make the best of herself, concentrated effort should really pay dividends; 2 Jarvis & Thornley’s Seaquest Warrior Maiden, very attractive & shapely white, very well handled, showing a storm throughout. Good feminine head & good expression but both canines misplaced. Well balanced, moving with relentless self-importance, only a needing a little more drive to complete the picture. PGB (4) 1 Vickers’ Duvessa Devil Wears Prada, quality solid brindle, good head & expression, substantial with good front & feet. Little long in back. Good bend of stifle. Moving well both ways although refusing to make the best of herself; 2 B Bid For Gold with C, close call but still refusing to show properly & losing out in substance to 1. LB (3) 1 Dance’s Decadance Dragonfly, classical white, beautiful head having width, fill, finish & lovely expression. Although would like better shoulder handler did an excellent job & had her showing beautifully throughout, taking the class on movement both ways. CC; 2 Lambert’s Glenmorangie of Caliber, very good quality & typy white, lovely head & expression. Another one showing beautifully making it a tough call standing but even in the hands of another quality handler, her lovely bitch lost out to 1 on the move both ways. OB (5) 1 Whittaker’s Wengormick Petite Lady, very typy white, good front, strong head with width, fill & good expression, lovely bone & substance, very shapely with powerful quarters, lovely bend of stifle, moving well both ways. Although she showed very well in her class & in close contention for CC, she went a little off the boil in challenge, just tipping the scales against her. RCC; 2 Stephen’s Seayess Tartan Mist, attractive white, adequate head needing a little more width & fill but great varminty expression. Although a bit long & would like more bone she has shapely quarters & really used backend to illustrate the best drive of ‘em all. DOMINIC CLARK |
