East Anglian Bull Terrier Club Trophy Show
Buckden, UK 7th February 2015
Judge: Mrs. Andrea Gates-Newberry (Ukusa)
I would like to thank the committee for the opportunity to judge your Trophies. It
was indeed, a show within a show. I enjoyed the experience immensely which my
able stewards helped make even more enjoyable. Thank you to the exhibitors for
the sporting way they took decisions.
Winner of:
The Arthur Rooke Memorial Shield (Best in Trophy Show), The Ormandy Bitch Box
(Best Bitch of the Year), The Night Rider Trophy (Best Homebred in Trophy Show)
and The Folly Cup (Best Brindle Bitch of the Year)
Koellen’s KOELLEN PENNY BLACK – Well made typy, feminine 21-month-old black
brindle & white bitch who exudes quality. Sweeping arc to her head with enough
width and fill. Well placed ears that she uses constantly, giving her an alert
expression. Mouth is good. One canine is pressing a little on the gum but I would
not go so far as to call it instanding. Short coupled with a lovely forechest, well
laid shoulders and good bend of stifle. Straight front, nice width of chest with tight
feet. Enough second thigh which helped her move well. An overall, nice tidy,
balanced picture of elegance and quality.
Winner of:
The Ormandy Dog Box (Best Dog of the Year)
Twyman & Gardner’s LARONBELLE’S MAGIC VISIONS – Large, substantial 4 year old
white dog with brindle head markings that never stopped showing. Long head
with gentle profile and perfect bite. Straight front, tight feet, ok shoulder
placement, good hind angulation and well set on tail. Strong, well developed
second thigh which aided in his tremendous drive when he moved. He covered
the ground effortlessly, parallel coming and going but had a tendency to drop his
topline. Superbly handled; handler made sure he stood four square at all times.
Winner of:
The Chendor Trophy (Best Non-Brindled Coloured Dog or Bitch of the Year)
Mills’ MIINROC ONLY THE BRAVE – Short coupled 15-month-old richly coloured red
& white dog. Compactly built with adequate bend of stifle and tight feet. Steep
shoulder placement caused him to be somewhat stuffy in neck. Nice curve of
head with good fill and small eyes, reverse scissors. Movement close going,
parallel coming.
Winner of:
The Arbor Cup (Best White Dog or Bitch of the Year)
Coverdale’s UNIONBUL’S DIAMOND FLAME – Well put together, typy 14-month-old
white bitch. Very eye catching youngster. Nicely turned and filled head with
correct bite. Short backed with good lay of shoulder, well angulated and
muscled hindquarters and correct tail set. Moved parallel coming and going. She
made her handler work hard.
Winner of:
The Katie Trophy (Best Veteran Dog or Bitch of the Year)
Brailsford’s BENJIP BLACK MAGIC AT KEARBY – Nearly 10-year-old black brindle &
white bitch in excellent condition that looked half her age. Nice, long head with
arced profile, kind eyes. Good feet, well laid shoulder and adequate bend of
stifle with well developed second thigh. She was clearly feeling the cold and was
fluffing herself up causing her topline not to look level, but upon inspection could
tell she was just feeling the chill. She was well presented and handled, and her
condition is a credit to her owner.
Winner of:
The Romany Ring Straked Cup (Best Mover in Trophies)
Taylor’s RAGNAROK EOSTRE – 20-month-old red & white bitch that moved parallel
coming and going. She took long strides, covering the ground with ease and held
her topline while on the move.
