ENGLISH BULL BLACKPOOL 14 Judge(s): MR B LAMBERT Bull Terriers I love Blackpool, it’s a great show & the committee really go that extra mile to make it a bit special. They were rewarded with better weather this year which made it a truly enjoyable day. Anyone who thinks that the reduced entries will make for easier champions is going to be disappointed, as the quality, particularly in bitches, continues to hold up well & there were several bitches present worthy of the title of ch. While there was a lot of quality on display I do feel that we are lacking depth in the really typy animals & some animals presently are rather one dimensional; great in profile, but rather narrow when viewed from the front. PD (2) 1 Shepherd & Howe’s Polanca Powerslave, impressive big brindle dog with lots of quality. Very good profile but a little narrow in foreface. Correct bite. Excellent in silhouette, well made with good bodylines. Excellent heavy, round bone. Rather long cast & needs to tighten in front. A tricky dog to show as he is typically rambunctious, but his handler got the best out of him. Moved freely; 2 Leggat’s Rabram Royal Star, powerful heavyweight b/br dog. Excellent well filled head, with good strength of muzzle. One misplaced canine. Short cobby body with excellent spring of rib. Correct topline. Would like a little more bone for his size. Moved with drive but a little close behind. JD (4) 1 Wannop’s Off The Charts at Charishalee, compact white dog, oozing breed type. Well placed tiny eye, & well positioned ears giving him a first class expression. Good front with plenty of bone for his size. Good neck with excellent well laid shoulder. Short cobby body with a barrel ribcage. Firm topline & short back. Would like a little more fill to his head & a bit more strength to his muzzle but one of the few dogs that was truly square. Slight mouth fault. Moved well, drove & was parallel both ways; 2 Smet’s Hoodstar Inglourious Bastard, very smart shapely dog with excellent bodylines. Beautiful straight front with nice tight feet. Well shaped head of good length. Both canines tight. Very good expression. Moved freely but a little wide in front; 3 Bunce’s Rubbise Its Complicated. PGD (1) 1 Foster & Bicker’s Bilboen Your Eyes Only, powerful white dog, beautiful head, amongst the best here, completely packed up with a wide muzzle & with teeth locked over & correct canines. Excellent bone, but rather poor in front. Well laid shoulder. Very masculine, but a touch short on leg making him rather unbalanced. Very good powerful hindquarters. Showed like a bomb. LD (3) 1 Patterson’s Golitha Mystify, very showy & statuesque smart b/br. Tall & shapely with an excellent profile. Head is long & well shaped but lacks strength to muzzle. Beautiful long neck. Very well made throughout with good firm topline. Moved a little close behind; 2 Parkes & Burridge’s Chardace Dillinger, quality red dog with a calm temperament. Well made with a strong, well filled head. Very good straight front. Touch long in back. Very good quarters which he used well on the move. Would like a little more power & substance throughout; 3 Nelson’s Bilboen Yannis. OD (3) 1 Newberry’s Ukusa Quagmire, quality white dog of medium size. Well shaped head with decent profile, lacking a little under the eye. Excellent expression. Nice tight front with elbows tucked-in & nice round bone. Beautiful long neck & excellent well laid shoulder. Well sprung ribs, firm topline which he held on the move. An extremely well balanced high quality dog, just approaching maturity. Steady showman won the CC & BOB on his make & shape & overall quality; 2 Rae’s Irazistabull Star Of Hades, tall eyecatching b/br dog. Sweeping profile. Outstanding, gun barrel front, with nice tight feet. Very good shapely bodylines. An eyecatching dog with lots of quality, but is a little narrow throughout, & needs more spring of rib. Showed very well; 3 Redmond’s Warhorse El Pistolero. PB (5) 1 Foster & Bicker’s Bilboen Beyond The Stars, big b/br bitch, with a beautiful profile. Correct bite, very well made throughout with sweeping bodylines. Good straight front with tight, cat feet. A stunning youngster of outstanding quality, just needs to widen in chest & tighten throughout. A stunning youngster who looks set to go places. Showed really well & moved freely & with drive. RCC; 2 Smet’s In Love With Little Thunders by Lou Prouvencaou, a beautiful pretty & feminine white bitch of excellent quality. Classic well filled head, with a perfect mouth & a very good front. Extremely well made throughout. At barely 7 months she is understandably immature & somewhat loose, but she is a bitch of the highest quality & with maturity I suspect she will trouble the very best. I hope we see more of her in the show ring; 3 Dyson’s Gorbain Ice Maiden Tawnbarr. JB (6,3a) 1 Dobbin’s Debully Vagabond Queen, elegant tall white bitch with plenty of substance. Extremely well made with excellent bodylines. Lovely well filled head with a sweeping profile. Beautiful swanlike neck. Well laid shoulder & strong well angulated hindquarters. A little more bone & neater ears would complete the picture. Drove well & moved in one piece but was a little close behind; 2 O’Connell’s Koellen Penny Black, very showy b/br bitch. Very feminine with a very pretty well filled head. Good front with adequate bone. One misplaced canine. A little upright in shoulder, but otherwise very well made throughout. Moved with drive & looked a picture; 3 Moore’s My Book Of Dreams. PGB (4,1) 1 Foster & Bicker’s Bilboen Angels Kiss, lovely compact brindle bitch. Very typy with a good strong & well filled head with good fill under the eye. Short back & very good quarters. Nice neck, well placed shoulder & good spring of rib. Moved freely & with drive but was rather close behind; 2 McDonagh & McLeish’s Irazistabull Star Of Athena, very showy, feminine white bitch. Nicely made with good bodylines. Well-shaped head, of good length with a nicely placed small dark eye. Would like to see a little more bone. Moved freely & with drive; 3 Karta-William & Williams’ Karmara Konsider Me. LB (5,1) 1 Newberry’s Bullytrip Hells Angel by Ukusa, beautifully made b/br bitch. Lovely in profile with sweeping bodylines, lovely neck & shoulder & good topline with very well angulated quarters. Her head whilst lovely in profile is a little narrow for me & I would like to see more bone, but a quality bitch nevertheless; 2 Blair’s Aricon Eye Society into Megaville, another high quality & well-made bitch. Attractive head. Very pretty & compact with a lovely short back & cobby body & very strong & well angulated quarters. Carrying just a little too much weight which spoiled her underline, but a quality bitch nonetheless who has excellent type; 3 Thain’s Debully Dee Dee. OB (9,2) 1 Westwood’s Tulsadoom’s Square Peg, tremendous heavyweight powerful white bitch. Very strong well filled head with a good deep muzzle. Correct bite. Lovely straight front with nice round bone & good tight feet. Super length of neck & a well placed shoulder & firm topline. She moved completely in one piece with great drive & was completely parallel when going away. Not the most feminine of bitches she will be too much for some, but for me she is a stunning bitch with the substance & power one looks for & just the type that produces champions; 2 Ley & Bloomfield’s Fortifer’s Flametta, I loved her as a puppy when I gave her a RCC & have certainly not changed my mind. Compact, with an excellent head. Enough bone for her size, good front & short back with strong well angulated quarters. She has matured into a steady showgirl. Her mouth, which not quite correct has, if anything, improved with age. A bitch which deserves her title & I hope it comes soon; 3 Catalina & Szewczyk’s Quentinhill Rebellious. WILLIAM LAMBERT |
