BEDLINGTON WELKS 10 Judge(s) MR DAVID TAYLOR DCC CH PENGERRIG IRON DUKE SHCM (MRS & DR H JONES OBE) Bedlington Terriers Toplines on the move have improved since I last judged, a poor topline only serves to spoil the unique outline of the breed. I also found some exhibits lacking correct front angulation with straight upper arms, this can effect front action & can also give the impression of lacking reach of neck. It can also effect front movement when the exhibit moves towards the judge spoiling the breed requirement of the horseshoe shaped front both on the move & when stacked. Type as ever was varied. On the plus side I found no bad mouths or cracked pads & no eye problems. PD (1) 1 Bouse’s Tredomen Dixie, 11 months, alone but showing early signs of promise for future, head of correct proportions, correct contruction of forequarters, kept topline on move, moved OK. JD (0). PGD (4) 1 Owen’s Bisbee Beachcomber, not long out of junior, showing signs of bright future, good hard condition, plenty of bone & muscle, pleasing head with correct eye setting, ears set flat to skull, kept topline on move. Needs to tighten in front, tends to be bit wayward when coming towards; 2 Palmer & Roberts’ Jetsway Captain Morgan, smaller than 1. Pleasing head, correct shoulder construction, good rear angulation. Tended to lose topline on move. Good depth of brisket down to elbow; 3 Harris’ Ratzwell Independence. LD (3,1) Not best class of day. 1 Caines’ Burmington And Me Too, good hard condition, correct eye colour for liver, head correct proportions. Shoulders not his fortune. Won class on movement, kept topline on move; 2 Hewitt-Taylor’s Ruffsfurze Roumeli for Tobanie, heavier built than 1. Good head, correct eye setting, good depth of brisket down to elbow & along body, good rear angulation, kept topline on move. OD (5) 1 Jones’ Ch Pengerrig Iron Duke, good head, correct bite, small eye giving appearance of being deep set & triangular, thin ears, coat correct colour & texture for blue, good depth of brisket down to elbow & through body, moved OK with light springy action, awarded RCC on last two occasions I judged. Could not be denied CC; 2 Kiernan & Liu’s Bisbee Boy Wonder, immaculately presented & handled but should be more than that to a show animal. Preferred movement of 1. Could be stronger in head. Good bite, correct eye setting, thin ears, good reach of neck, good depth of brisket down to elbows, topline OK on move, good rear angulation, correct tail carriage. RCC; 3 Walshaw’s Janmark Blue Encounter. PB (3) Best class of day, 1 & 2 could easily change places. 1 Garbutt’s Aireview Classic Print, 9 months, blue, very feminine with lovely expression, eyes giving appearance of being deep set, thin ears hanging flat to cheek, correct coat colour & texture as expected at age, kept topline on move. Needs to firm up in rearquarters. Won on movement. BP; 2 Walshaw’s Janmark Misty Horizons, older & heavier than 1. Full of promise, good hard condition, pleased in head, good expression, correct front quarters with return of upper arm, brisket down to elbows, correct topline moving; 3 Harris’ Ratzwell Dolly Mixture. JB (4) 1 Worrall’s Bisbee Everlasting Life with Bluesmurf, coat colour & texture could be better. Correct expression with thin ears flat to cheek, correct front quarters with return of upper arm, kept topline on move, good rear angulation; 2 Owen’s Bisbee Belle Inni, coat of correct colour & texure. Heavier made than 1 but without being coarse. Similar comments to 1. Preferred outline of 1. Moved OK; 3 Fielding’s Reenies Silver Dreamer. PGB (4) 1 & 2 both very feminine in appearance & expression, difficult choice. 1 Ames’ Sharnor Crystal Clear, won on outline & movement, ears carried flat to cheeks, correct front construction, brisket deep & down to elbows, good rear angulation & tail carriage, well presented & handled; 2 Thompson’s Jetsway Absolut Bling, good coat & condition, similar comments to 1 apply, drove out well from rear, well presented & handled; 3 Lacey’s Bowling Brook My Blue Heaven. LB (4) 1 Rainsbury’s Sevray Repique, correct proportion standing being slightly greater in length than height. Could be stronger in head but has required expression. Good front quarters with return of upper arm, kept topline on move, good rear angulation & tail carriage. RCC; 2 Welch’s Wudrusjuk Work Of Art, coat of correct colour & texture for blue. Preferred outline & movement of 1. Slightly longer in leg than 1. Pleased in head & expression, long & tapering neck well up from shoulders, head carried high on move, well presented & handled; 3 Bannister’s Miteymidgets Matilda. OB (6) 1 Yearley’s Ch Gnejnabay Geneginie Gal at Lowbrook, a lot has been written about her as she did so well last year. Not been at best this year. Well presented & handled but top show exhibit should be more than that. Excels in head proportions, correct eye colouring for liver also giving appearance of being deep set, long neck, good shoulder construction, correct height to length ratio, kept topline when moving in profile a prerequisite for the breed, correct footfall when viewed coming towards. CC & BOB; 2 Hyde’s Gnejnabay Madam Dominica, dam of BOB. Not in same league. Good coat & correct colour for liver, good head, brisket deep & down to elbows, moved OK at front. Rear movement not her fortune; 3 Graham’s Ruffsfurze Mavrodaphne. DAVID TAYLOR
