AUSTRALIAN SOUTH WALES 11 Judge(s) ANDREW H BRACE Australian Terriers PD (3) 1 Skelton’s Millvalley Scotch Mist, the first dog I judged & he set the benchmark for the day. Not yet 9 months, this b/t is bang-on for size, shape & overall type & from the start he gave me the most wonderful Aussie expression, constantly on his toes & strutting his stuff. Beautiful head, correct neck, very impressive construction throughout with good forechest, strong bone, already well bodied, all topped with an excellent coat texture. Going around he covers ground effortlessly & with drive & for me he was an exciting find & a standout winner. CC & BOB; 2 Jones’ Riverwye Poacher, 6 months well bodied b/t in hard muscular condition for one so young. Not quite the expression of 1 or his coat & not quite as ‘together’ but good overall type & did OK on the move; 3 Small’s Bethane Conna Sir. JD, PGD & LD (0). OD (3) A frustrating class in many ways. 1 Ahola & Hyvonen’s Ch/Sw Ch Jaskarin Peperencino, mature red superbly schooled, impeccably presented & the ultimate showman. There’s enough of him for me & he tends to be a little extreme in some ways but his polished performance won him the class. RCC; 2 Stoddart’s Ch/Am Ch Millvalley Red Rufus, mature red in fit hard nick & on the table I found him more satisfying than 1 but his topline wasn’t quite right on the floor & he wasn’t moving out as I’m sure he can. Type-wise he’s more ‘me’ than 1 but on the day this is the way it fell; 3 Reilly’s Ir Ch Silhill Bethane Jackaroo. VD (0). PB (2) 1 Horsburgh’s Riverwye Bridgova, 6 months b/t who lacked a little confidence but her type & quality made up for it. Beautiful head & eye, good bone & body, pleasing coat, moved away so true but came on a little wide. Can only get better with maturity; 2 Stoddart’s Millvalley Prima Donna, 9 months b/t whose Australian heritage came to the fore when she was determined to do kangaroo impressions! Good basic head type, not as pleasing in coat or topline as 1, more outgoing than 1 but needs to improve up & down. JB (1) 1 Jones’ Wyeafon Illusion In Red, 12 months red of excellent size, shape & overall type, quality head, excellent neck, topline & tailset. Excellent angulation front & back, stands so well on her legs, sound & steady mover, coming into good coat. CC, her first & should make up easily. PGB (2) 1 Moores’ Wyeafon Dicey Affair, red, rather blocky in head & although well ribbed needs a little more body. Good coat & basic shape, coming on was rather bossy in front. LB (5) 1 McCourt & Eardley’s Silhill Snap Dragon with Sherex, feminine red, I don’t care for her head which I found a little too ‘cute’, full in eye & lacking balance. However, behind her head she pleased in outline, balance & overall construction & on the move she excelled. RCC; 2 Skelton’s Millvalley Poosie Nancy, b/t with much more head appeal than 1 but carrying far too much weight which clearly affects her front movement & topline. Otherwise good overall type & could do much better if in optimum condition; 3 Moores’ Wyeafon Dicey Affair. OB (4) 1 Stoddart’s Am Ch Temora’s The Simple Life, b/t of good overall type but head balance & proportions could be a little better, solid body, well put together if a shade long coupled & steady mover; 2 Jones’ Wyeafon Kiss Me Kate, red, slightly light in eye & not using her ears to advantage. Good overall shape, topline & angulation, disappointing mover up & down; 3 Skelton’s Brimartz Catch Me If You Can. VB (2) 1 Stoddart’s Ch Millvalley Heather Belle, 11 years b/t of good overall basic type, co-ordinated well on the go-around, well balanced outline, a little full in eye & obviously her coat has softened with age; 2 Skelton’s Werribee Platinum Glory, 8 years b/t who standing looked the winner but insisted on bunny-hopping behind & refused to co-ordinate on the move.
