AUSTRALIAN CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 16 Judge: Mr R Wright BEST OF BREED : 4546 MCCOURT, Mrs S & EARDLEY, Mr P & O'REILLY Mesdam Ch Silhill Red Crackle AUSTRALIAN JUDGE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 16 Australian Terriers It felt good to be in the midst of the hustle & bustle of a dog show again & I thoroughly the whole day. My thanks must go out to secretary David Bell & his team, firstly for recognising at the outset that provided a disabled judge can see, feel & has the necessary qualifications & grey matter, there is no reason why they should be precluded from judging & David Bell should be applauded for his common sense & forward thinking. It is frightening to think how many such judges with barrelsful of experience & knowledge have, & continue to be overlooked & uninvited, it is such a waste. I had a really helpful steward. The dogs were all friendly, one even came to me on the table & licked my nose. The exhibitors were a friendly bunch too & I enjoyed the little bits of chi-chat & it was good that so many former friends came out of their way to say hello. VD (0). PD (1) 1 Jones’ Wyeafon Blue Illusion, lovely youngster with all the essentials. Masculine & alert, good front & layback, excellent coat & colour, well muscled thigh & gaskin, he showed & moved really well. Should have a very bright future. BPD, BP & pleased to see that he went on to win PG3. JD (0). PGD (2,1a) 1 Bevan & Kyte’s Millvalley Blue Nijinsky, decent sort with good head & ears, level & well bodied, good coat, hard condition, moved & showed. LD (1) 1 McCourt, Eardley & O’Reilly’s Silhill Barney Rubble, A1 red that has all the essentials to go far, excellent coat & colour, excels in transition from neck through shoulders, just needs to fill a little in rib & drop in brisket, moved & showed very well & well handled. RCC. OD (1) 1 McCourt, Eardley & O’Reilly’s Ch Silhill Red Crackle, cracking dog on top form & balanced all through, a joy to handle, excellent coat & colour & in hard condition all through, a great showman. CC & BOB. GCD (0). VB (0). PB (2) Close decision between these two promising youngsters. 1 McCourt & Eardley’s Silhill The Sequel, nice sort, well headed, good front & fore, well bodied with good coat & colour, moved & showed well, tail is not her fortune but her overall quality overrides that for me when judging the whole dog. BPB; 2 Whitehouse’s Silhill Nuts In May, very close up with lots to like, similar comments apply, lovely coat & colour & moved & showed well. JB & PGB (0). LB (1) 1 Stoddart’s Spitewinter Aefond Kiss for Millvalley, one who catches the eye, very good sort of red, smart & alert, excellent layback & level topline, good coat & in good muscular condition especially in thigh & gaskin, moved & showed very well, very good handling showed her off in the best light, at 17 months she has time on her side, by next year who knows. RCC. OB (2) Spoilt for choice between these two & the Limit winner. 1 Jones’ Wilfnbell Girl On Fire via Wyeafon, red who excels in quality & type & has all the essentials, balanced, in great coat & well muscled, especially thigh & gaskin, moved & showed her head off. CC; 2 Skelton’s Ch Millvalley Blue Persimmon, another one of quality all through & presented in excellent form from nose to tail, smooth layback, level topline at all times, good set on, well muscled, moved & showed to advantage. GCB (0). ROGER WRIGHT
